Safety

The company I chose for this project is Tesla, Inc. Tesla Motors, Inc. was founded in 2003 by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning and they went through four CEOs before Elon Musk became CEO in 2008 (L. Kolodny, 2021.) Tesla’s R&D program has a main priority of developing new products and services while continuously work to improve current production vehicles; $2.593 million or 5% of its 2021 revenue was allocated here (Marketline, 2023.) The reason I chose Tesla, Inc. is because of its CEO, Elon Musk. Musk is without a doubt one of the most brilliant entrepreneurs that our generation was blessed with. I had a free trial for Audible and with my free token I purchased the book Elon Musk, written by Ahslee Vance but before she could write anything factual, he had to personally vet the story. One reason it took so long for Tesla to put their Roadster into production comes from Musk’s personal attention to detail when it comes to safety, quality, and comfort. He refused to produce a car that he was not 100% satisfied with which often led to features changing before production was approved (Vance, 2020.) The new product I would put into production would hopefully be a new safety standard in all new vehicles. The product would be inflatable air tubes that inflate when the vehicles detects pressure from being submerged in water. This would hopefully prevent drowning related deaths from accidents and unfortunate circumstances when someone decides to take their own life, or others, by driving their vehicles into bodies of water. To help research the need for this safety feature, I can do research on how many deaths come from automotive vehicles being swept underwater during flash floods, loss of control that caused a vehicle to be submerged, or suicides.

“Some people dont like change, but you need to embrace change if the alternative is disaster” -Elon Musk
